In many situations, you need to pick up more than a single symbol. The next pages show a number of ways to do that in Graspable Math.
Often you can pick up a group by dragging a common symbol. For example, pick up a fraction by the fraction bar, a bracketed expression by the brackets, or an addend by the "+".
While touching or dragging a term, press spacebar while you keep dragging to select more.
You can select multiple terms by holding the shift-key and dragging or clicking on terms.
If you are on a touch device, you can use a second finger to tap on terms you want to pick up together with the dragged terms.
Another multi-touch gesture is to use two fingers to surround the terms you want to pick up. Everything between the fingers will be picked up.
